John Norris' Bio

Growing up in a small town was one of the best parts of my life. I think it was great knowing everyone and everyone knowing me. From the day I was born when the church doors opened there was Momma Norris and her six kids.

My radio career started some 40 plus years ago. Spending most of it in secular radio from my hometown of Grundy, Virginia (yeah, Larry’s hometown too) to Norfolk, Jacksonville and up and down the east coast to finally back to Montgomery where I worked in the early 70’s. I always thought that I would finish my career here. And this is where the Lord gave me the opportunity to use the talents he gave me to serve him. I often think of the responsibility I have to God to do the best I can deliver everyday.

My duties at “The River” other than doing the morning drive show with Jerry Howell and “River Traffic” include selecting the music that is played and schedule it. I have learned to love contemporary Christian music. The message in the song and I love a great song that praises the Lord.

My hope is that you enjoy “The River” as much as I love working here and praising my God.
